What Slacker Does
Slacker is the biggest work speed penalty in the game: Work Speed -30%, always active. Its milder
sibling is
Clumsy
(-10%).
On a base worker it's the single most urgent passive to remove — it undoes more than a whole
Serious
(+20%) worth of speed. The flip side: Pals that never work at a base
don't craft at all, so on a pure combat Pal or mount Slacker is harmless dead weight. That's the closest thing it
has to a niche — it's the negative passive you can safely ignore on a fighter.
How to Get Rid of It
Overwrite it at the
Pal Surgery Table
: pick the
slot holding Slacker and apply any unlocked passive. Even the 10,000-gold default
Serious
is a 50-point work speed swing on a worker, and
Artisan
(+50%) turns the same slot into an 80-point one. Slacker isn't on the
surgery menu, so once it's overwritten it can never come back — see the
implants guide for the full replacement list.
When breeding worker lines, drop Slacker carriers early — every generation it survives is another chance for it to land in your final Pal's slots.
