Palworld Awakening Guide: Awakening Crystals, Radiant Gems, and the Hidden +10%
How World Tree awakening works in Palworld: what the permanent stat multiplier really applies to, every Awakening Crystal and Radiant Gem with exact drop rates and crafting costs from the game files, how awakening differs from Trust, and the Lucky Pals that spawn already awakened.
Awakening is the World Tree's permanent power-up: feed a Pal an Awakening Crystal of its element and it gains a hidden stat multiplier for good. The game barely explains any of it — this guide covers exactly what the bonus does (and the fine print the status screen hides), every crystal and Radiant Gem source, the crafting cost, and the wild Pals that spawn already awakened — all pulled straight from the game files.
What awakening actually does
Awakening multiplies a Pal's HP, Attack, and Defense by 1.1× — the
game setting is a single constant (AwakeningStatusMultiply
= 1.1). It is permanent, applies to one Pal at a time (each copy needs its own crystal),
and shows up on the status screen as "Bonus from Awakening".
There's fine print the status screen doesn't spell out:
- The +10% applies only to the level-scaled portion of each stat — the flat base every Pal shares and the Trust contribution are not multiplied. In practice an awakened Pal ends up roughly 8% stronger, not a clean 10%.
- Work Speed is untouched. Awakening does nothing for base workers.
- It stacks with everything else — condensation stars, souls, IVs, Trust, passives, and Alpha stat rows all apply on top. The Pal Builder has an Awakened toggle that shows the exact stat line for any build.
Awakening vs. Trust
Awakening and Trust arrived together in v1.0 and both quietly raise stats, so they're easy to mix up. They are separate systems: Trust is a rank from 0 to 10 that grows as you spend time with a Pal, and each rank mixes a hidden per-species set of friendship stats into the Pal's base HP, Shot Attack, and Defense. Awakening is a one-time item purchase. Notably, the awakening multiplier does not apply to the Trust bonus — the two are added side by side rather than multiplied together.
Trust rank 10 takes 200,000 points. Party members earn 500
points every 5 minutes (as long as their sanity is at least 50), base workers a trickle of 5 per tick, and
petting adds 10 — so the fast lane is
Kinship Peaches
(+20,000 points each) and
Little Kinship Peaches
(+2,000).
How to awaken a Pal
Use an Awakening Crystal from your inventory on the Pal you want to awaken. Crystals are element-locked: a Fire crystal only works on Fire Pals, and there is one crystal — plus a matching Radiant Gem to craft it from — for each of the nine elements:
| Element | Awakening Crystal | Radiant Gem (material) |
|---|---|---|
| Neutral |
Neutral Awakening Crystal

Crystals can't be bought — the 120,000-gold price tag on the item page is the item's base value, not a shop listing (selling one to a merchant nets only 12,000 gold).
Where to get Radiant Gems
Every gem source is in and around the World Tree:
-
Level-70 World Tree Pals — the aura-wreathed variants that roam the World Tree carry a
50% chance to drop 1–3 Radiant Gems (Alpha versions drop them guaranteed). Examples:
Bastigor
,
Elgrove Cryst
,
Rayhound Cryst
,
Celesdir Noct
— check any Pal's page for its exact drops. One datamined quirk: each variant's gem element is fixed in its
drop table and doesn't always match the Pal's own element, so check before farming a specific color.
- The Ancient Relic Recycler — every recycled relic, from Decayed up to Glistening, pays out five Radiant Gems of random elements alongside its implants and schematics. See the Ancient Relics guide for the full reward tables.
- Expeditions — World Tree expedition reward tables include every gem element, and the relics they bring back convert into more gems at the recycler. The expeditions guide covers how to cap the reward rate.
Crafting Awakening Crystals
Each crystal is crafted at the
Ancient Workbench
from
50 Radiant Gems of the matching element plus
10
World Tree Holy Water
, at a hefty 30,000 work
— bring your best handiwork Pals. Holy Water drops from the same level-70 World Tree Pals as the gems (75% for
2–4), so both materials farm in the same loop.
At an average of one gem per level-70 kill (50% for 1–3), one crystal is roughly 50 kills of the right variant — or ten relic recycles' worth of gems, though the recycler pays out random elements. Off-element gems aren't wasted; they bank toward whichever Pal you awaken next.
Wild Pals that spawn awakened
A fact from the game's spawn settings that no loading screen mentions: Lucky (rare) wild Pals can spawn already awakened, crystal-free. The chance scales with the area's level band:
| Lucky Pal level | Chance it spawns awakened | Condensation stars on spawn |
|---|---|---|
| 1–25 | 0% | 2★ |
| 26–50 | 5% | 2★ |
| 51+ | 10% | 4★ |
A high-level Lucky is therefore worth a second look before condensing it away: one in ten arrives with the awakening bonus (and four condensation stars) already banked.
Which Pals to awaken first
- Your combat carries. A permanent ~8% to HP, Attack, and Defense is the last multiplier an endgame build is missing. Plan the build in the Pal Builder — toggle Awakened and the breakdown shows the exact gain for your species and investment.
- Expedition squads. Awakening adds ~8% firepower per Pal, and expeditions themselves drop the relics that become gems — the system funds itself. The Expedition Firepower Calculator has a per-slot Awakened toggle, and the expeditions guide explains why condensation still comes first.
- Not your base workers. Work Speed ignores awakening entirely — spend those 50 gems on something that fights.
- Awaken finished Pals. The bonus belongs to the individual copy, so spend the crystal on the final bred, condensed copy you intend to keep — not on a parent you'll retire. The same logic applies to disposable implants.
