What Sanctified Meat Shield Does

Sanctified Meat Shield is the biggest defense passive in the game — a rank 5 slot that turns a Pal into a dedicated tank:

  • Defense +50% — ahead of Diamond Body (+30%), Idiosyncratic (+25%), and Burly Body (+20%).
  • Attack -30% — the reason it should never touch a damage dealer.
  • World Tree harvestables won't vanish when approached — the shared World Tree effect, covering both the Pal and its trainer.

How to Get It

No Pal has Sanctified Meat Shield by default, and it isn't in the normal wild-passive pool — it's one of the seven World Tree exclusive passives. There are two ways to get it:

  • Wild World Tree Pals. Pals that spawn inside the World Tree can randomly roll World Tree exclusive passives, Sanctified Meat Shield among them. It's a lucky find rather than a farmable source, but check the passives of anything you catch there. Yakumo's Birds of a Feather partner skill can't speed this up — it only boosts passives from the regular wild pool, which excludes all World Tree passives.
  • The disposable implant. Disposable Implant: Sanctified Meat Shield teaches Sanctified Meat Shield at the Pal Surgery Table — the surgery itself is free, but the implant is consumed.

The implant comes from the Ancient Relic Recycler : every recycle of an Ancient Relic — any grade, including cheap Decayed ones — rolls exactly one disposable implant from a 16-implant pool, so Sanctified Meat Shield lands at 6.25% per recycle. And since the implant is one-and-done, finish breeding, rank-ups, and IVs before you spend it. See the Ancient Relics guide for the full reward tables, the implants guide for how surgery works, and the best passive skills guide for how it fits a four-slot build.

Tips

  • The full tank stack. Sanctified Meat Shield + Diamond Body + Idiosyncratic + Burly Body totals +125% defense with flinch immunity, knockback immunity, boosted regeneration, and burn/poison immunity — about as unkillable as a Pal gets.
  • Build for the role, not the stat sheet. A Meat Shield Pal's job is holding a boss's attention while you and your damage dealers work — the -30% attack doesn't matter on a Pal that was never going to carry the damage.
  • Keep it off damage dealers. If a Pal's job is offense, -30% attack costs far more than +50% defense returns — give those Pals Diamond Body instead.
No pals have this passive skill by default.
