What the Large Incubator Does

The Large Incubator holds three eggs at once, regulates its own temperature, and runs on no power whatsoever. That combination makes it the best value structure in the incubator line and, for most players, the last one they ever need to build.

How to Build It

Slower Per Egg, Far Faster Overall

Here's the detail that trips people up: the Large Incubator incubates at 1.0 work per second, the same rate as the basic Egg Incubator and slower than the Electric Egg Incubator's 1.5/s. Any individual egg finishes later here than it would in the electric one.

It doesn't matter. Three slots at 1.0/s is double the throughput of one slot at 1.5/s, and it achieves that while drawing zero power against the electric model's 200. If you're picking one incubator to spend Ancient Technology Points on, this is it.

Temperature Is Handled

Like every incubator above the basic model, the Large Incubator has no temperature component in its blueprint at all — the mechanic simply doesn't apply to it. Scorching Eggs, Frozen Eggs and everything in between hatch at the same rate regardless of biome, with no Heaters or Coolers required.

Tips

  • It pairs naturally with a breeding base. Three Breeding Farms produce roughly one egg every 100 seconds between them; a couple of Large Incubators absorb that comfortably.
  • Build them instead of upgrading them. Two Large Incubators give six unpowered slots — more practical throughput than the Large-Scale Electric Egg Incubator's three slots at 2.0/s, and no 800-power generator to feed.
  • Don't tear out your basic incubators. They cost nothing to keep running and every slot is more eggs in flight.
