Palworld Oil Rigs Guide: All Three Rigs, Loot Tables, and Enemies
Every Rayne Syndicate oil rig in Palworld: exact locations and level tiers, the full guard roster and companion Pals on each rig, anti-air defenses, and every chest loot table with exact drop odds from the game files.
Three Rayne Syndicate oil rigs sit off the coast of the Palpagos Islands, and they are the closest thing
Palworld has to a raid: fortified platforms packed with dozens of armed Syndicate guards, anti-air cannons that
shoot your mount out from under you, explosive barrels everywhere, and chests stuffed with
Crude Oil
, Gold Keys, Pal Souls, and schematics you cannot farm
anywhere else. This guide covers all three rigs — the level 30 test rig, the level 55 rig, and the level 60
platform rig — with every guard, every companion Pal, every chest loot table, and the exact odds from the game
files.
How oil rigs work
An oil rig is a permanent world location, not an instanced dungeon. You fly or swim out to it, fight your way across the deck, loot every chest you can find, and leave. Nothing is on a lockout timer and nothing is one-per-save: once you clear a rig, the game resets it — guards, chests and all — after 30 minutes of real time, so a rig is a repeatable farm rather than a one-off event.
A PIDF guard on the mainland will warn you about them if you talk to the right NPC: "See that huge structure towering over the ocean? That's a Syndicate oil rig. It's a dangerous place, so make sure to stay away from it." Ignore that advice — but bring the right gear.
The alarm and endless reinforcements
Most guards on a rig are fixed sentries that hold a post. A second group is flagged in the game data to start combat only when the rig alarm goes off — hit one guard loudly enough and a chunk of the platform mobilises at once. On top of that, the two larger rigs carry a separate class of reinforcement spawner that keeps producing replacement guards rather than a single fixed enemy: 18 of them on the level 55 rig and 6 on the level 60 platform rig. The level 30 test rig has none, which is a large part of why it is so much gentler.
The practical consequence: you cannot clear the level 55 rig by standing in one spot and out-damaging the spawns. Push forward, break the reinforcement points' line of sight, and loot as you go.
Anti-air guns and laser towers
Every rig is ringed with anti-air machine guns — 4,000 HP, 1,000 defense, 150 damage per shot, engaging anything within roughly 48 metres. They are destructible: walk up to one and the interact prompt literally reads "Destroy". Clearing the guns nearest your landing point before the fight properly starts is one of the biggest quality-of-life wins on a raid.
The two bigger rigs also mount laser towers, and these are a different problem: the game flags them to target flying targets only, with an engagement range of 200–500 metres on the level 55 rig. They turn slowly (3° per second in pitch), so a fast mount can outrun the tracking — but hovering over the deck to snipe from above is exactly what they exist to punish. The level 60 platform rig's towers are the upgraded variant: they start engaging from 100 metres out and track more than twice as fast.
Explosive barrels and gas tanks
Rigs are littered with red barrels and gas tanks — 47 barrels and 16 tanks on the level 55 rig alone. Each carries an explosion power of 10,000 with a 0.2 second fuse, and they chain. A single shot into a cluster next to a guard squad does more damage than most weapons in the game, and the tanks launch their blast upward, which makes them ideal for the raised walkways. They are just as lethal to you, so do not fight next to one.
Chests, keys, and the goal crate
Every rig has two kinds of container. Ordinary treasure chests are scattered across the decks and roll the rig's standard loot pool. Then there is the goal container — the final prize at the end of the platform, which on the level 60 rig is a crate you hack rather than unlock, confirmed with a "Hacking Complete" message. Goal containers roll a completely different, much richer pool than the regular chests, so never leave a rig without finding them.
Loot rolls one item per slot, and each slot has its own chance to fire at all. A slot listed below as "always
rolls" gives you something every single time; the handful of low-chance slots are the jackpot slots. Guards
themselves also drop keys: ordinary riflemen and shotgunners have a 1% chance at a
Copper Key
, the flamethrower, rocket and missile troopers drop
a
Silver Key
at 1%, and every gatling-gun
Syndicate Crusher has a 1% shot at a
Gold Key
.
Guards drop gold at 40% (the Crushers at 100%) and
Crude Oil
at
15–60% depending on the rig and the guard.
All of these drop rates are the game's 1× base values. They scale with the "Amount of Dropped Items by Enemies" world setting exactly like any other enemy loot, so an Easy-preset or custom world will hand you noticeably more.
The three rigs at a glance
Coordinates are the in-game map readout — click any pair to open that rig, highlighted among the three, on our interactive world map. "Region level" is the danger rating the map shows for the area; the guard levels are what you actually fight.

Rayne Syndicate Test Drilling Rig
The smallest and by far the easiest of the three, and the one most players meet first. Its guards sit at levels 15–20 — genuinely mid-game enemies — and it has no respawning reinforcements at all, so it can be cleared methodically with a crossbow and a decent mount. The catch is that its loot pools are scaled to match: this is a Giga Sphere and Training Manual farm, not a schematic farm.

Fishing off the rig
Each rig has its own rare fishing spot with a level 58–62 pool, on a one-hour respawn. What you can pull up here:
-
Ghangler Ignis
-
Whalaska
day only
-
Azurobe Cryst
See the fishing guide for how shadow sizes translate into Pal quality — the "Nushi" shadows in these rare pools are guaranteed to carry the top-tier fishing passives.
The rig-exclusive Pals and their drops
Six Pal species have a dedicated oil rig variant in the game files, with drop tables rewritten for the raid. The
most useful by far is Leezpunk, which drops a
Copper Key
on
every single defeat — and there are a dozen of them on the level 60 platform rig, which makes
that rig a better key farm than most chest routes.
| Pal | Drops on the rigs |
|---|---|
Leezpunk
|
|
Xenovader
|
|
Helzephyr
|
|
Incineram Noct
|
|
Knocklem
|
|
Faleris
|

These are combat variants, not new species — catching one gives you the ordinary Pal, so there is no Paldex entry to chase here.
What the loot is actually for
-
Crude Oil
is the headline reward and the
reason the rigs exist. It refines into
Plasteel
(2 oil + 5
ore), and it is a direct ingredient in Flamethrower Fuel, Missile Ammo, Frag Grenade Mk2 and Wing Cells. A
single goal crate on the level 60 rig pays 150–300 oil, which is more than a long mining trip.
- Weapon and armour schematics. The level 55 rig's goal chests are the game's main source of laser rifle, flamethrower, grenade launcher, gatling gun and guided missile launcher schematics; the level 60 rig's crates upgrade that to Plasma Cannons, Laser Gatling Guns and Advanced Bows at tier 2 and above. Regular chests carry the matching Plasteel and Hexolite armour lines.
- Pal Souls. Large Pal Souls at 27.9% from level 55 chests and Giant Pal Souls at 31.1% from level 60 chests. Giant Souls are the bottleneck in soul enhancement — 30 of the 52 souls needed to max a Pal — and rig chests are one of the few repeatable sources outside predator hunting.
-
Gold Keys and Dog Coins. A
Gold Key
at
13.9–15.6% from the two bigger rigs' regular chests, and 15–20
Dog Coins
per roll for the medal shop.
- Work suitability handbooks. The level 60 rig is the only oil rig that drops Applied Handbooks, which permanently add a work suitability to a Pal. They sit behind the rarest slots on the rig (0.92% on regular chests, 20% on the goal crates), so treat them as a bonus rather than a farm.
- Coralum Ore and Ancient Civilization Cores. 8–12 Coralum per level 55 chest and 15–20 per level 60 chest, plus 1–5 Ancient Civilization Cores from every goal container on the two big rigs. Cores are not rig-exclusive — expeditions and the Ancient Relic Recycler also produce them — but a goal-crate run is the fastest repeatable source that does not cost you relics.
Loot you can only get on an oil rig
Cross-referencing every loot table in the game against the rig pools, only three schematic lines are genuinely rig-exclusive — they appear in no other chest, dungeon, camp, treasure map or enemy drop table anywhere:
-
The entire
Multi Guided Missile Launcher
line.
The base schematic and tier 1 come only from the level 55 rig's supply chests; tiers 2–4 come from those
chests or the level 60 rig's goal crates. There is no other way to get them.
-
Plasma Cannon
schematics 2, 3 and
4.
Level 60 goal crates only. Tier 1 turns up in chests elsewhere in the world, but every upgrade above it is
locked behind the platform rig.
- Lightweight Hexolite Armor Schematic 1. The level 60 rig's regular chests, and nowhere else — the rest of the Hexolite armour line is available from dark island chests and salvage.
Everything else on a rig — Laser Gatling Gun and Advanced Bow schematics, Giant Pal Souls, Ancient Civilization Cores, Applied Handbooks, Gold Keys — is farmable elsewhere too. The rigs are usually the faster source, not the only one.
How to raid a rig
- Do not hover. The laser towers exist specifically to shoot flying targets. Land early, on an outer corner of the platform, and fight on foot — or approach at sea level and climb.
- Kill the nearest anti-air guns first. They are destructible, 4,000 HP each, and clearing the two or three covering your landing zone makes the rest of the raid dramatically calmer — especially on the level 55 rig with its 27 guns.
- Shoot the barrels, not the guards. Explosive power 10,000 with a 0.2 second fuse and chain detonation. Every rig has 28–47 barrels and 8–28 gas tanks, and the Syndicate has helpfully parked most of them next to their own patrol routes.
- Bring a Dark- or Fire-resistant loadout for the level 55 rig. Its companion Pals skew heavily toward Fire and Dark — Jormuntide Ignis, Blazehowl Noct, Wixen, Ragnahawk, Incineram Noct — so resistance rings and a Water or Grass team pull their weight.
- Push, don't camp. Reinforcement posts keep producing guards. Clearing chests as you advance beats trying to wipe the deck first, because the deck does not stay wiped.
- Find the goal containers before you leave. They are a different loot table entirely — on every rig they are worth more than all the deck chests combined.
- Come back in 30 minutes. A cleared rig resets on a 1,800 second timer, so a rig run slots neatly between other activities. Pair it with a bounty circuit while you wait.
